About this deal

From the beginning I’ve loved that Justice is a young person who is comfortable in her own skin and has confidence in her abilities. The first line of the book sets the tone from the off, ‘ As soon as she saw the school, Justice Jones knew that it had the potential for murder. Slightly the outsider, Justice nevertheless speaks her mind, stands up for what she believes and is clever and self-reliant. Justice’s growing friendship with maid Dorothy, just three years her senior at age fifteen, also transcends the obvious class divide and has great potential for development. Despite her father’s parting admonition that she should not break too many school rules this term, Justice is soon on the alert.

She has been editor of and sat on the editorial Board of English 4-11, led an Open University Reading for Pleasure Teacher Group (TRG) for teachers in Wales and is a Wales representative for the United Kingdom Literacy Association (UKLA). I'm so glad that she's writing this series, as I can share it with my ten-year-old granddaughter, who has enjoyed other young sleuth series. When Justice’s father disappears after the half-holiday at Highbury, anybody and everybody is suspect. After they are cut off by thick snow and another murder victim is discovered Justice finds a true friend, but she is almost too late in discovering the murderer. Our Non-Fiction Range includes: Academic, Photography, Audio books, Business, Cook Books, Craft Books, Health and Fitness Books, Mind, Body, Spirit (Tarot).

As Justice, who has been home-schooled, settles in to boarding school life, she forms some wonderful friendships, and comes to rely on these friends to help catch the criminal which, of course, leads to dangerous situations for them all. The mystery/murder details seemed a little intense to me for a children’s mystery but maybe they’re fine. Justice's roommates are all from different backgrounds and have different personalities that I look forward to learning more about in subsequent books. As with Griffiths’s adult novels, the story is an entertaining mystery with strong characters, shot through with humour and wry observations. Justices far er forsvarsadvokat og moderen var krimiforfatter, så Justice er vokset op med kriminalitet i baghaven, om man så må sige.

But when Mr Arthur dies in mysterious circumstances, Justice soon has a list of questions in her journal: why hasn't he been given a proper military funeral? Indeed, we first meet Justice on her way to Highbury House Boarding School for the Daughters of Gentlefolk, which is set on the Romney Marshes. They find out at the end that Matron killed Miss Thomas because once when Mis Thomas was the games teacher, she rescued Justice's friend Rose's mum from a snowstorm but left Matron's daughter who died. Justice isn’t impressed by her first sight of Highbury House, standing out huge and stark, like Dracula’s castle, on the remote, inhospitable Romney Marshes of Kent. Twelve-year-old Justice Jones is a character readers will fall in love with at once, as she is a girl whose mother has recently died, accounting for her placement in the boarding school, but a girl who tries to make the best of her situation. Justina es una chica lista y amante de las novelas de misterio que me ha caído muy bien y sobre la que estoy deseando seguir leyendo. The strained relationships with friends when a newcomer has to be accommodated are scenarios that many youngsters will experience in school and seeing these dilemmas played out in the story can provide comfort and a degree of guidance. School is totally alien to her, with its arcane customs, and its delight in games that are more like gladiatorial contests, and almost universal worship of Helena Bliss, the head girl. Serien er beregnet til børn i 10-12-årsalderen, men jeg vil mene, at børn og barnlige sjæle langt ud over denne alder vil kunne få glæde af denne nye serie.

After the tragic death of her mother, justice is sent to boarding school and realises something is suspicious! Readers watch Justice as she learns how to exist as part of a group, and they may even laugh in sympathy as she discovers she has no skill at athletics. With her Mum’s death from cancer a few months prior and her dad a busy QC, she knew she had to make the best of it. Reconozco que el misterio me ha sorprendido, la resolución no es completamente evidente, a pesar de ser una historia middle-grade. The first book in the series is a gripping mystery that will keep young readers on the edge of their seats. However, when Justice hears voices from an unoccupied turret room and sees a man’s face at a window two stories up, curiosity and investigation follow. The intention at first is to keep the two groups entirely separate, but then sports brings them together. I’ve enjoyed watching Justice grow and mature in her time at Highbury, and it seems her father made a wise choice indeed in sending her there.
